Sandy Madar
Figurative Artist
Sandy Madar (b. 1987, Paris, France) is a self-taught painter based in Israel. With a background in financial mathematics from the University of Paris Dauphine, she transitioned to real estate after the 2010 financial crisis. In 2019, facing profound loneliness and an existential crisis, she turned to painting as a means of healing and self-discovery. Inspired by Van Gogh, Georges Mathieu, and Pissarro, Madar’s work explores themes of resilience, transformation, and the contrast between life and death. Through bold colors and expressive brushstrokes, she seeks to convey courage, hope, and vitality, placing art in service of life. Her work has since gained recognition for its emotional depth and dynamic composition.
Resilience in Color: The Art of Becoming
Sandy Madar’s work is a visual meditation on transformation, resilience, and existential inquiry. Her bold, fluid brushstrokes and dynamic color palette evoke a sense of movement, as if each painting is in a state of becoming—reflecting her personal journey of self-reinvention.
In the featured piece, the coiled, scaled form suggests both confinement and infinite potential, a paradox that resonates with Madar’s artistic philosophy. The hanging key at the composition’s center becomes a powerful metaphor for unlocking inner strength—an invitation to the viewer to embrace life’s uncertainties with courage.
Influenced by Van Gogh’s emotive intensity, Georges Mathieu’s gestural dynamism, and Pissarro’s luminous vitality, Madar’s work transcends stylistic imitation, instead channeling their spirit into a deeply personal visual language. Her art exists at the intersection of struggle and triumph, mirroring her own evolution from financial instability to creative liberation.
Through her expressive, almost visceral application of paint, she does not simply depict the world—she confronts it, transforming failures into mastery, solitude into connection, and uncertainty into purpose. This exhibition is not just a showcase of paintings but a manifesto of resilience, urging us to see not just with our eyes but with our emotions.
