The Artistic Vision of Edina Soós: Balancing Abstraction and Innovation
For Edina Soós, art is more than a creative pursuit—it is a necessity, a way to process the world and engage in continuous self-discovery. Rooted in lyrical abstraction, her work explores the interplay between stability and change, tradition and modernity, structure and fluidity.
Finding Expression Through Abstraction
From an early age, visual art was Edina’s natural form of expression. Over time, her approach evolved, but she remained drawn to abstraction rather than realism. Inspired by Cubist influences and the concept of hiding and revealing, she creates paintings that invite viewers into layered, interpretive experiences. "I like to explore different levels of abstraction, where there is always something to uncover, something to resonate with," she explains. Her paintings often evoke themes of evolution and birth, whether reflecting the genesis of the universe, the origin of life, or the transformation of the human spirit. This continuous exploration has led her to expand beyond traditional media, incorporating digital art, 3D design, and video montage into her practice.
Navigating Artistic Challenges
One of Edina’s greatest challenges has been balancing her artistic vision with contemporary trends. "I don’t want to compromise the integrity of my paintings," she says, "but I also seek new ways to engage with the present." She resolves this tension by maintaining classical oil painting techniques while using digital media to experiment and push boundaries. This dual approach allows her to remain true to her roots while embracing modern innovation. Another pivotal moment in her journey came during periods of creative stagnation. Rather than seeing these as failures, she viewed them as opportunities for growth. "When I felt stuck in painting, I turned to digital art, trusting that it would shape my artistic direction," she shares. This willingness to adapt has been instrumental in her evolution as an artist.
Evolving Perspectives and Inspirations
Edina’s recent works focus on light, shadow, and reflections, drawing inspiration from the refraction of light through crystals. She uses this phenomenon to deconstruct traditional spatial relationships, presenting reality through a fragmented yet poetic lens. "These artworks meditate on perception, space, and the subjective nature of visual experience," she explains. In her digital work, she explores themes of artificial intelligence, human identity, and reproduction, raising questions about technology’s role in shaping the future. "I see digital art as an extension of my creative practice, allowing me to engage with contemporary issues while preserving the emotional depth of traditional painting."
Lessons and Reflections
For Edina, success is not defined by recognition alone but by the ability to create work that resonates and provokes thought. "If my art sparks curiosity, engages the viewer, or offers a new perspective, then I’ve succeeded," she says.
To emerging artists, she offers this advice: embrace uncertainty, trust your creative instincts, and let your work evolve naturally. "Periods of artistic crisis are inevitable, but they often lead to breakthroughs. Keep researching, exploring, and allowing yourself to grow."
Edina Soós continues to push the boundaries of abstraction, bridging the gap between past and future, permanence and change—inviting viewers to join her in this ever-evolving artistic journey.
