Beatrice Sartori
Beatrice Sartori, a contemporary collage artist of Spanish-Italian-Swiss origin, was born in 1968 in Bern. A self-taught innovator, she has developed a unique technique in artistic cutting and collage, earning recognition through international exhibitions, awards, and publications.
In addition to her visual art, Beatrice is an accomplished author of books for young readers. Her latest imaginative tale was released last year, and she is currently working on a new youth project. Based in Switzerland, she continues to inspire through both her art and writing.
Beatrice Sartori’s artistic process is deeply rooted in spontaneity, drawing inspiration from the natural and everyday elements around her—whether it’s the shape of a paper scrap, a reflection, or a shadow in the foliage. Her work is crafted with precision, using scissors to cut every detail and carefully layering up to eight overlapping elements in some areas. Tweezers assist with intricate pieces, ensuring accuracy in her meticulous assembly.
Her tools are minimal yet effective: a pencil, scissors, tweezers, glue, and an array of textured, colorful paper. This simplicity underscores her distinctive, labor-intensive technique, which results in works that are graphic, modern, and vibrant.
Sartori’s creations reflect her commitment to themes such as joy, respect, harmony, and environmental awareness. By emphasizing the beauty of nature and human connection, her work invites viewers into a world of dreams, escape, and serenity.
